Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role changed every year throughout the degree apprenticeship but all of them fell into Data & AI sales. The most recent role I was in was a Brand Partner Specialist role which involved managing 30 business partners. I was their IBM first point of contact and helped them with running campaigns, prospecting, events and quoting.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
The programme was well planned and executed. The learning materials were comprehensive and support was available from both, the university and IBM.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I learnt how to programme using Python and SQL, developed project management skills and gained significant technical knowledge.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
One day of university work was easy to follow.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
IBM was always there to help if I needed any support. For example, during my dissertation project, I was struggling to pick a topic to do the project on and the business was able to provide me with some ideas.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Help was always available.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The Digital and Technology Solutions degree was highly technical, whereas I'm in a sales role. It has given me invaluable insight into the technology that I sell but I don't necessarily utilise the programming skills in my day to day job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I ran two communities - a presenting community and a 'Wild Duck' storytelling community - during my apprenticeship and was also part of a sustainability community.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend IBM to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a very diverse and friendly place to work. There is a vast variety of roles available and moving roles within the company is relatively easy.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
Be prepared to learn on the job. Every role is very different and you need to be open to learning new things all the time.
