Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend IBM to a friend?

Yes

Why?

Very flexible company to work for offering many opportunities for development in the work place and outside; for example, 10 days worth of paid military training. Opportunities to travel are available, dependent on the team - some business units will travel more than others and this is also dependent on budget availability. Office spaces mostly modern with good facilities. Employees have the option to work from home or work from the office. Numerous social events take place throughout the year which is a great opportunity to network professionally or make new friends.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?

Research the company's past, present and future; for example, during an interview you could mention IBM's contribution to the Moon landings throughout 1969 to 1972, IBM's current investment into artificial intelligence (AI) through its Granite language model as well as IBM's investment into Quantum computing as a future asset. Also, showcase your uniqueness - include aspects about your self or things that you have done which make you an interesting individual. Your academic performance is not the most important factor in whether you get a job at IBM or not.
