Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role involved handling motor claims from start to finish. This includes:
- Taking calls from Policyholders, drivers & claimants who wish to report a motor accident
- Managing the file to keep it in order/easy to understand for other file handlers
- Arranging Hire / Repairs for policyholders/Claimants
- Meetings with the motor team to keep updated with internal policies/regulations
- Liaising with solicitors when file litigates
- Settling claims
- Negotiating settlements with credit hire companies
- Answering queries from policyholders/claimants/drivers
- Conducting liability investigations / locus reviews
- Assessing claims for key fraud indicators
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoyed my programme. I received a lot of support from people within my team, along with other members of the company that I worked with day-to-day. I was also encouraged to work independently and form my own decisions from an early stage within the apprenticeship. We received half a day each week to revise/work on assignments for the apprenticeship side of the course. However, if we required more time we would receive support from managers. My favourite thing about the company that I work for is that you are given many opportunities for development.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Since completing my apprenticeship, I was given the opportunity to handle motor injury claims within my team. However, shortly after this I applied for an internal role handling casualty claims. I have now been on the liability team for 6 months and have my own caseload dealing with public liability claims, including injury. My apprenticeship within the motor team gave me a strong baseline knowledge that has allowed me to progress quicker within my new team.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Despite being the first set of apprentices within my company, I found that the programme was well structured. For the first few months of the apprenticeship, we worked closely with the technical leads on our team & were involved in a large number of training sessions to develop our knowledge. Once we were confident enough to deal with our claims independently, we were paired with 'buddies' on our team who were responsible for reviewing our claims and providing feedback. Each week, we were given half a day to focus on our apprenticeship studies. We were also encouraged to spend this time with the other apprentices on the course & work together.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer have been very supportive throughout my apprenticeship.
They have arranged networking activities, made adjustments to offer more time with our apprenticeship were required, provided opportunities to work with other teams within the company to develop our skills/understanding, offered further training when requested.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The Growth Company were incredibly helpful throughout the apprenticeship program. They:
- Held multiple revision sessions to assist with our exams
- Allowed us to send emails at any point if we required extra assistance with something
- Allowed us to draft assignments so that they could provide feedback before our final submission
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification gave me a deeper understanding of the insurance industry which I could apply to my day-to-day role.
Furthermore, the case studies that we were required to write allowed me to reflect on the work that I had completed within my role and focus on things that I had done well and ways that I could improve
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
- We have a number of social activities that are arranged throughout the year after work
- Chess Tournament
- Football Club
- Company weekend away every year assuming we have reached our targets
- Away day each year for your team focusing on team building
