In my role as a Customer Success Engineer, I support enterprise clients by translating IBM’s Data and AI technologies—particularly watsonx Orchestrate and agentic AI—into clear, practical business value. I work closely with sales, technical specialists, and client engineering teams to progress opportunities through discovery, demonstration, and proof of value. 
On a day-to-day basis, I design and deliver technical demos, presentations, and hands‑on workshops, tailoring content to specific client use cases and industries. I facilitate co‑creation sessions, advise on best practices and solution design, and support customers in building and understanding agentic workflows. 
Alongside client work, I contribute to sales enablement and opportunity progression, including supporting cross‑sell and upsell motions, preparing reusable demo assets, and sharing knowledge internally. I also represent IBM at client events, executive briefings, and internal forums, consistently delivering confident, technically accurate, and engaging presentations.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The course is very well structured. You have a study day once a week to fufill your uni assignments and Mon-Thurs where you work with your teams. The apprenticeship will also have built in training from our apprenticeship team at IBM.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

We receive good support here. Not only do you have a task manager who you'll work with closely, you have a foundation manager who has a duty of care for you in a HR capacity and also a point of contact at the university as well.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We have good support from our lecturers and other faculty of staff. This could be in regards to course content, extenuating circumstances and other pastoral support available.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I think a fair amount of the course content is helpful for some day to day activities, especially for those in a technical role. For those in more of a business role, perhaps less so.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We have business resource groups that will host loads of events to get involved in. The uni also does the same.
