Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
I work in many departments, I sometimes work on collections to help customers with fitting their glasses, other times I could be doing dispensing to help guide customers to the best options. Sometimes as well I will help with pre-screening patients. I like to see myself as a versatile person for the fact I can be of help without much issue.
Its a job that always requires more room for learning with very kind people there to help each step of the way.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

4/5
Pros: I enjoy my role, it gives me a constantly shifting goal post to help keep me on my feet, my colleagues are nice but also honest when they need to be.
cons: The sales expectations monthly can make me feel very stressed.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
- I've learnt lots acronyms like (Ocular coherence tomography), these acronyms help to summarise the technology we use
- I've learnt how to use certain optical equipment when pre screening
- I've learnt how to read prescriptions
- I've become more knowledgeable regarding multifocal lenses
- frame styling
- being able to help patients that are having medical concerns
- being able to measure patients PD's and heights
- able to help with giving patients the best recommendations (especially when they are on a budget)
there's much more that I have learnt and so much more to learn as well.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

5/5
I'd say it's very organised, it offers much support and just a message away support.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
I receive a lot of support, even when I'm okay I still get offered help from my manager.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5
I get a lot of support and advice that helps to keep me on track.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

5/5
My grades gave me the opportunity to work at a grade level 3 optical assistant which gives me the whole package. I feel that this grade helps me to get a grasp of all environments when working in this type of course.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

5/5
no
