Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

4/5
General undertaking of procurements within the Construction, facilities management and professional services categories. This involves tendering, evaluating, typical administration involved in these processes from initiation to contract award.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

4/5
I enjoy the role and the tasks I have to complete on a day to day basis. I am enjoying working in different areas of the procurement function and meeting new people from these different areas.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
I have learnt a variety of skills from the beginning of my apprenticeship until now. These range from working independently and gaining my own confidence to being able to understand the procurement process and undertaking procurements by myself.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

3/5
When I was undertaking my CIPS I was having weekly training sessions which also involved tasks following on from these sessions. Once my exams were complete and I was working on my EPA, I was able to allocate enough time per week to focus on these. These two elements of my apprenticeship were well structured by the college to ensure my learning was on time and there was enough work. Towards the completion of my programme, there were limited resources given to help strengthen my knowledge further and I felt there was little preparation to find these resources in time for when my apprenticeship ended.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

4/5
I received great support from my line manager and other members of the procurement team. They were keen to support me develop from when I first started until now, but were limited in knowledge for the end of scheme processes and next steps in my development. I had limited support and interaction with the early careers team, which although I didnt feel was needed for me personally, other may have benefitted from some additional interaction with people outside of their team.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5
I had regular, monthly 121 meetings and weekly training sessions. My tutor was always offering to have extra calls if myself or other members of my cohort felt we needed extra support and was always available if we had any questions.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

5/5
It has definitely helped me on a larger scale with understanding the entire procurement process and areas that form this. I have learnt some key elements to help me understand smaller elements which may occur in different projects, depending on the scenario such as negotiation skills.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

3/5
Some different networking events which involve lunch and learns, minority group sessions and currently a football tournament.
