Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

4/5
On a day-to-day basis, my role involves supporting project delivery through coordination, organisation, and communication. I help manage workflows, track progress against tasks, and ensure that the right resources are in place to meet project needs. This includes reviewing information, organising meetings, and maintaining internal tracking tools to keep everything up to date.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

4/5
I enjoy my programme to a good extent. It has given me the opportunity to develop practical skills, take on real responsibilities, and gain exposure to different areas of work. I particularly value the learning aspect and the chance to work with a range of people.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
Yes, I’ve both learnt new skills and developed existing ones. I’ve improved my communication by working with different stakeholders and adapting my approach depending on the audience. I’ve also strengthened my organisation and time management, as the role requires balancing multiple tasks and priorities.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

5/5
The programme is fairly well organised and provides a clear overall structure, with defined expectations and learning objectives. There are established processes and support systems in place, which help guide development and track progress.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

3/5
I receive a good level of support from my employer. There are clear points of contact for guidance, and I’m able to ask questions or raise any issues when needed. Regular check-ins and feedback help me understand how I’m progressing and where I can improve.
At the same time, there’s an expectation to take ownership of my work and development, which has helped me become more independent. Overall, the support is consistent, while still encouraging personal growth.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

4/5
IBM operates as both the training provider and employer.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

3/5
I feel that my qualification supports my role to a good extent. It provides a solid foundation of knowledge and helps reinforce key skills such as communication, organisation, and problem-solving, which I apply in my day-to-day work.
While not everything directly aligns with daily tasks, the qualification helps me understand the broader context of my role and improves how I approach challenges. Overall, it complements my practical experience and contributes to my development.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

4/5
I’m a member of two groups that support inclusion at IBM, including the Foundation Women network. These groups provide opportunities for networking, attending events.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend IBM to a friend?

Yes

Why?

There is a supportive environment, access to a wide range of resources, and the chance to work with different teams, which helps build both professional skills and confidence.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?

I would advise applicants to be clear on why they’re interested and to show a genuine willingness to learn. It’s important to demonstrate not just technical ability, but also communication, adaptability, and how you approach problem-solving.
