Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I help customers throughout their journey with us, from arrival and pre-testing, to product recommendations and dispensing. I provide glasses adjustments and aid customers regarding any queries and concerns they may have.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The programme is engaging and there are many learning opportunities both on and off the shop floor. My apprenticeship team, management and colleagues create a supportive environment that encourages development.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

There is an emphasis on developing maths and English skills which are linked throughout the course. I have definitely improved my communication skills and found a confidence in myself that carries over to my life outside of work.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I am given 4 hours a week to complete any modules or workbooks. The apprenticeship team works with me to create achievable deadlines and any adjustments that I require are made.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

My managers and colleagues are beyond supportive and create a supportive, safe environment that encourages development.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The apprenticeship team set up calls every few weeks when they provide feedback on any completed work and set goals for future development. They are available for any questions or queries I may have and show care throughout the course.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

They ease you into the qualification and create an open environment where you can ask for help when needed. The team is beyond supportive and provides feedback regularly, allowing for further growth.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

My team go out for meals and drinks semi-regularly and there is always an open invitation for any staff who wants to join in.
