I am responsible for building the skills and capabilities that the site needs to perform effectively and succeed in the future by aligning learning activity with business priorities. My role involves setting and leading the L&D strategy, ensuring it supports organisational goals such as performance improvement, change, compliance, and leadership development. Another core responsibility is identifying skills and capability gaps through data, feedback, and performance insight, then designing or commissioning learning solutions that address real business needs rather than delivering training for its own sake. I also oversee the design and delivery of a wide range of learning approaches, including instructor-led training, digital and blended learning, on-the-job development, coaching, and mentoring, ensuring learning is practical, inclusive, and focused on behavioural change. Leadership and management development is also a key area of focus, with responsibility for building effective managers, supporting succession planning, and embedding a culture of continuous learning. My role also involves partnering with senior leaders, HR, and operational teams to support performance improvement and organisational change. Measurement and evaluation are critical, I also assess learning impact beyond attendance metrics and using insight to continually improve effectiveness
