Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role has changed over time, but primarily continued to be - morning standup's and figure out what is going on for the day and how did things go yesterday. Followed by some deep work - some of which done with peers on call such as paired programming. Check in after lunch / mid afternoon with further run through if needed.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I have really been enjoying my programme so far, some parts a more tedious like the admin side of things and the EPA project doing it on top of everything else is definetly not the most fun but still a good experience.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt various new skills throughout my time, some of which being related to ensuring that I can convey information well but minimally without having to take up everyones tiime spending 5 minutes explaining something on a meeting. I have further honed my existing skills with problem solving and my approachs to things like debugging etc... being significantly more precise.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The sturcutre is definetly there for some aspects, but other parts sometimes have more to be desired.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Mostly pretty good support from employer and great at trying to help me when I ask questions. Still some room for improvement though in some parts, especially for things around EPA.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
They have been really good on that so nothing to note other than good support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I think it mostly does - sometimes feels that it's not the most helpful content for my job role, but I also bare in mind that the qualification is generalised for the field. with tech having various niche aspects. The specialism modules completed in final year have been rather enriching and useful.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are quite few different offerings for extra curricular some of it is not the most regular running so just depends on what it is.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend IBM to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It has been a great place to work so far, and I have been really enjoying the versatility of it as a technology consultancy allowing me to reposition myself / redesign myself where I can change project / move to different areas allowing to switch up the stack I work on / apply my knowledge in different ways. Without it getting too much of being fixed in the same place.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
I would say be yourself.
