Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at GXO Logistics?
Full of opportunities. The most I love about the experience is about how flexible management is around you. This usually involves a more linen approach towards you, not too harsh, and are quiet open to train you up and show you "how it is done".
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
*Building Relationships with Customers
*Doing market research
*Working with providers to analyse SLA
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
4/5
Not 5 because the team/management is reluctant to invest in you as you are there just temporarily. This is a mentality issue. The only way to overcome it, which worked for me, was to prove my worth and show that I deserve the investment.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
3/5
Other graduate roles have a much better remuneration package (5-10k more). While working, colleagues at same level, or below could earn more than you (even if you have more experience + qualification).
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
It provides a very broad view of the logistic sector.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
3/5
It does not feel like I have improved much during operation placements as most of the times I was trained how to work with systems, which were outdated, and vary a lot from one contract to another (so it feelt like starting a new job every time anyway).
On the other side, you do get "forged" as an individual, as the situations you handle are so random, and most of the time above your authority - yet you have to deal with it, as you are physically there.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
I was associated a mentor, but he did not respond to my repeated emails. Luckily I found someone else in the business who supports me.
At the start, I was given a graduate from year above who worked at my site who introduced me to people, and processed - this helped a lot. Yet, they have left the business shortly after and I was not linked with someone new.
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
Decent, I was able to leave work at work. However, sometimes staying behind, or coming early for 15-30 minutes is expected (but does not get marked as overtime).
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
3/5
Remote working is not possible if you are operational - standard.
How would you rate GXO Logistics initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
I think the company is doing enough to please the workforce and public regarding their EDI.
How would you rate GXO Logistics CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
5/5
Every site contributes to this, often they involve graduates as they do not have other resources to spare.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend GXO Logistics to a friend?
No
Why?
Very rare interaction with upper management (i.e Head of... Director of...) therefore, lower chances to "make yourself visible". Graduates are somewhat lucky to have 2 interactions per year with executives, which gives them some opportunity to "shine". But that is limited.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
Fair.
Remote interview + assessment centre worked well as we did not have to travel cross-country just for an interview (which you may or may not pass). Response were returned quiet fast with feedback provided.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to GXO Logistics?
N/A
