Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

In my role as a Picture Design Apprentice I take on weekly Artworking tasks where I crop images for streaming platform and third parties. I get involved in submitting ideas for photoshoots and designing my own artwork for upcoming tv shows. Once a month I do my education workshops in a level 3 content creation where we learn all the fundamental skills in how to be a content creator.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I love this program at Channel 4, it is great to have hands on work experience and see projects you've worked on be in the real world.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

In my role at work and through my education provider - I have developed skills in, written communication, presenting in meetings, adobe creative suite, creative ideation, processes creative content goes through within the tv industry, collaboration, art-working and many more
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I feel the program is organized well, Channel 4 apprentices get one day a week to allow them to study/work on assignments so they aren't overwhelmed with the study and work balance. An extension was provided to apprentices who had their exams scheduled after their contract ended.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Lots of support is offered from my employer, whether that's fortnightly 1-1 meetings with my manager, quarterly 1-1 meeting with the 4Skills team who are there if we need any extra support and overall support within the team for daily tasks.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Our training provider have online workshops once a month with an assignment attached to each workshop. We have a quarterly review with the program lead to review how we are getting on with the course and if there is any extra support we need.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel my level 3 content creator qualification loosely helps me perform better in my role. We had a module of Photography however it is heavily focused on video creation which isn't something I do day to day in my role at work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Lots of extra-curricular activities to get involved in as an apprentice. Through shadowing teams outside of your own in departments you have interest in, to team socials set up to participate in after work and company wide events that are usually put on once every quarter.

Why?
It's a great place to work as a creative with an amazing work culture. Lots of things you can get out of it as an apprentice and many opportunities to get involved in during your time there.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Channel 4?
Show your creative side and unique ideas, nothing is too silly or big - all ideas are welcome.
