Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work as an Audience Insight apprentice and I sit in the Marketing, Corporate Relations and Exec team. I am often pulling show performance stats for corporate relations and press as well as helping out with social impact studies which look into how our programming is fulfilling Channel 4's remit. For marketing I complete pre-campaign insight decks which looks at the hooks and barriers of a new show, and the suggested target audience, which helps marketing position the campaign. I also complete campaign awareness tracking to help marketing stay informed of how each show campaign is performing.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy being an apprentice at Channel 4, there are so many opportunities beyond my job role and everyone in my team always makes sure I'm on track and helps when it's needed. I feel very supported and valued as a member of the team, and I'm working in a role that is very hands on which is a great way for me to learn.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed so many new skills since beginning this apprenticeship, I have learnt how to use Barb data which is programme performance data and I have also learnt how to use Excel. I have become much stronger with PowerPoint and ways to visualise data.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I get one day a week to work on apprenticeship work and this really helps me stay organised and keep on track of my apprenticeship work. This is always on a Friday too which helps me time manage and distribute my work load effectively.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have weekly check ins with my line manager and my team, this helps me feel very supported and I know there are many people around me who I can turn to for help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have quarterly progress reviews with my training provider and regular contact with them via email, they check through and give me feedback on my work when I need it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
As my team supports marketing, rather than being part of the marketing department, I sometimes find my multi-channel marketer apprenticeship isn't always relevant to my role. However, there have definitely been times I've been able to use the knowledge from my apprenticeship in my role, but I sometimes struggle to contribute to the lessons when they are very campaign focused as this isn't something I work on.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I am part of my departments social committees and I love putting on events for the department. There is always something going on at Channel 4, there are regular programme screenings and talks to go to, as well as the opportunity to win tickets to various events.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Channel 4 to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Channel 4 is a great company to work for, everyone makes a conscious effort to include each other regardless of their role or level. I feel very valued and included in this company and love to see my work making real impact.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Channel 4?
Make sure you understand and genuinely care about their remit, this is something that bonds the employees as we are all collectively here to do the same thing as it's something we all really care about. Showing this is something you are passionate about, and showing how you intend to display the remit and values within your role is really important and will make you stand out.
