Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

i am given one project at a time. this perfectly aligns with my KSBs that i have to meet for my apprenticeship. my manager thoughtful thinks of tasks for me to do that are meaningful and i am given opportunities to practice my soft skills. the work and study balance is very manageable. day to day, i am writing SQL and creating dashboards. i have worked on a recent project which was looking at 'how are youtube views affected when major sporting events are being streamed'. in this i am practicing my sql, using power bi, creating a powerpoint that is engaging and also practicing my presenting skills.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

working at C4 has been an amazing experience! the environment is so welcoming and the people are all so lovely. the work and study split is very manageable and mangers always put the apprenticeship first. there is no heavy work load or getting taken advantage of. there is so many other opportunities to get into weather it is work related e.g. shadowing another department or non work related e.g. film club. I would 110% recommend!

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

i had never used SQL before this apprenticeship and i have learnt a lot since being here. i was on a project in which i reached out to someone on my team for some support regarding SQL and they where very happy to help. the helped me in a way where i was being asked questions and was able to figure it out with the prompts and hints that they had given me. i wasn't just told the answer. it allowed me to use my own brain and figure it out rather than just being told how to do it.
i have definitely developed my transferable skills like professional communication, team work, presenting skills and much more. i have been in a comfortable environment in which i am able to make mistakes and ask as my questions as i need.

Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

very structured. i have a coach from my apprenticeship provider who is amazing at what he does. he supports me in a way that prepares me for my end point assessments and allows me to slowly improve my techniques to ace the exam at the end of the 2 years.
i have one 3hr webinar a week ans it is all online. the tutors that i have change from time to time depending on what module i am doing and so far i couldn't fault one of them.
we sometimes have technical difficulties in our webinar sessions, but that is almost expected as everything is online. never the less the tutors always find a way out of it.
they are 3rh straight which can sometimes get a bit long and drag, but we do have breaks innetween.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

lots! they always tell me that the apprenticeship comes first and they take their time to find projects that are useful for the business as well as my apprenticeship criteria. dead lines and workload are all very very manageable and if i need any type of support or extension, i am not shy to ask. the environment made is very open and comfortable
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

lots. they make it clear that the aim is ot perpare me for the end point assessment and i see through my progress, what we are working well together to achieve this.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

i am learning the relevent skills for my role. there are so many different people completing the same qualification as me but we all come from different backgrounds and businesses. somehow they manage to support us all. the teach us in a way where you can apply these skills to any business area. C4 is a tv production company but there are so many other companies from different areas and we manage to learn the relevant skills
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

there are lots of clubs that are outside of work. not only entertainment but also support groups too. we have a social team who plan activities for each month. this can be a movie at lunch time or arts and craft or even virtual yoga!

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Channel 4?
BE YOUR SELF! don't answer the application questions with an answer that you think they want to hear. answer with what ever you feel is right.
from personal experience, i had been applying to so many different apprenticeships that when i came across the C4 one i said to myself, i dont care what the outcome is i am just going to answer what i feel right. i didn't try too hard to use big fancy words. i just kept it real and professional, and from 100s of applications i took this approach with C4 and now im working here and i love it!
