My role is a Degree Apprentice, and currently my role is a Project Analyst. I help and support the project with organising data, setting up team meetings, and keeping project timelines up to date.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have really enjoyed the programme so far. My uni days have been great, and it’s been a really good learning experience overall.

I've learned both technical skills, like managing project systems, and non-technical skills, like communicating clearly with the wider team
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is really well organised. The split between my university days and my project work is clear, which makes it easy to balance both. Since it is a four-year course, it gives me plenty of time to build my skills gradually without feeling rushed. Everything is mapped out year by year.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

The support from my employer is excellent. My foundation manager and task manager work closely with me to ensure I meet my degree KSBs and help me gather the necessary evidence.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a lot of support from my training provider. The university tutors are always quick to help with assignments and answer any questions I have about the modules.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification helps a lot. The theory I learn during my university days directly applies to my project work, which helps me understand my daily tasks much better.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, there is plenty to get involved in. We do hackathons and various other work events, plus there are university events that we can participate in.

Why?
Yes, I would highly recommend this apprenticeship programme to a friend. It offers a brilliant balance between my university learning and my daily hands-on work as a Project Analyst. I receive excellent support from my foundation and task managers, as well as my university tutors, which helps me stay on track with my degree. There are also plenty of great extra activities to get involved in, like hackathons, networking, and university social events. Overall, it is a fantastic way to build real-world skills and confidence while earning a qualification.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
My biggest piece of advice is to just be yourself and be confident in your own abilities. Definitely look at IBM's core values before applying—dedication to every client's success, innovation that matters, and trust and personal responsibility. Try to show how your own mindset matches these values during the process. Overall, just show that you are eager to learn and ready to get stuck in.
