Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role as a Junior Management Consultant in the public sector is incredibly varied and has a range of roles and responsibilities. In my role, I work with large teams of both technical, and non-technical staff to pursue requirements in relation to critical UK national and international infrastructure. My role sees me working managing the delivery of application development at a lower level, progressing both IBM and the governments strategic objectives.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
My programme has been incredibly rewarding and has seen me grow in a myriad of ways.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes absolutely. Before embarking on my role, I was not able to complete half the things I now do day-to-day. I have learned technical fundamentals of software testing and development, commercial understanding and also how to work with others and lead teams to deliver maximum client value.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is ran by IBM in relation with CMI. The programme is very well managed and has a dedicated team to assist us in learning the needed Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours in hopes of achieving a final distinction grade.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
IBM is very involved as the manager of the pathway in both our project work, as well as our mandated education time.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
IBM is the provider and is fully invested in our growth.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The qualification is tailored to the consulting business and also the current market we see today. Therefore, the qualification is topical at all times.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
IBM has a myriad of communities or 'BRGs' to be involved with. Whether it be social, sport or community driven relating to personal identity and expression, there is a group to join and support for the development of the business and also your satisfaction.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend IBM to a friend?
Yes
Why?
IBM has been able to give me skills, knowledge and opportunities I would have not been able to achieve otherwise. I am consistently rewarded and supported to do my best and for that I am very grateful.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
IBM is interested in you as a person as well as your achievements. Focus on what makes you different and what you stand for. Also, IBM is a very large business, it a good idea to get to grips with the products and services IBM has to get the best odds possible. To do this, use the free case studies on the IBM website under the IBM 'Solutions' page.
