Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Fantastic apprenticeship with IBM - my day to day role tasks include report making, direct client interaction, internal and external meetings, and updating a nationwide client facing database.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I haven't met a single person so far who is not very personable with a can-do attitude. IBM has a fantastic working environment where superiors are excited for you to take risks and innovate - no breathing down your neck at every turn or tying you to rigorous rules which only make sense on paper. Everybody is more than happy to offer guidance and career advice. The ladder for progression within the company is made crystal clear and your managers are always pushing to get salary increases for you and to get you promoted.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
An apprenticeship is what you make of it - you can sit back, do the bare minimum and complete the course with no new skills, or you can grab every day by the horns and constantly strive to improve yourself. IBM allows you to grow as fast and as expansively as you desire.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The structure of apprenticeships is very confusing at first, especially with a company the size of IBM where there are many different governing bodies and groups involved, but the whole course is structured very well and any questions are quickly answered by managers.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have found superiors are always available to discuss any concerns and are very flexible when help is needed. Colleagues (whether full IBM employees or apprentices) are also always more than happy to offer help and advice.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Weekly check ins are had with an apprenticeship mentor called a 'Buddy', and monthly check ins are had with your apprenticeship manager, though the manager is always only a message away and is more than happy to meet whenever help is needed.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
This course is giving me a fantastic base to grow a consulting career on, as well as giving me a broad understanding of how the industry operates.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are groups available for almost any hobby you can imagine - IBM is a huge company with tonnes of employees.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend IBM to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Great culture, benefits and salary, and everybody is out to succeed and wants the same for you.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
Show how well you can acclimatise yourself to new environments, how well you can overcome problems, and that you have an interest (doesn't have to be knowledge at all, just an interest) in technology and AI. Use real past experiences to showcase these points. IBM care much more about experiences than qualifications (coming from a now IBMer with no education past high school).
