Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
In my role as a Learning Manager and Business Partner, I work closely with leaders and teams across the business to understand their development needs and support them in building the skills required for now and the future. My day‑to‑day work involves designing and coordinating learning programmes, partnering with managers to develop capability plans, and ensuring our apprentices and colleagues have access to high‑quality learning opportunities. I regularly meet with stakeholders, review learning progress, coach individuals, and collaborate with training providers to make sure our programmes run smoothly. My focus is on creating a positive learning experience, improving performance, and supporting people to grow in their careers.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoyed the programme and found it an extremely positive experience from start to finish. The content was engaging, the support from my tutor was consistent, and the structure allowed me to balance learning with my day‑to‑day role. I felt genuinely challenged and stretched in the right way, and the skills I developed have had a real impact on my confidence and capability at work. Overall, it was a rewarding journey and I would highly recommend it.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Absolutely — the coaching apprenticeship has helped me develop a wide range of new skills while also strengthening the ones I already had. I’ve gained a much deeper understanding of coaching models and techniques, and I now feel more confident applying structured approaches such as TGROW and FUEL in real conversations. The programme has helped me improve my active listening, questioning skills, and ability to facilitate reflective thinking, which has made a noticeable difference in how I support colleagues. I’ve also developed stronger self‑awareness, better emotional intelligence, and a more reflective, strengths‑based approach to working with others. Overall, the apprenticeship has significantly enhanced both my coaching capability and my impact in the business.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme was extremely well organised and had a clear, logical structure throughout. The learning modules were paced in a way that made the content manageable alongside my day‑to‑day role, and each stage built naturally on the one before. Expectations were clear, deadlines were communicated in good time, and the support from my tutor helped keep everything on track. The mix of taught content, practical application and reflection made the programme feel balanced and purposeful. Overall, the structure helped me stay focused, progress consistently, and get the most out of the apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I received a very high level of support from my employer throughout the programme. My manager and the wider team were encouraging, flexible and genuinely invested in my development. I was given protected time for learning, opportunities to apply my coaching skills in real situations, and regular check‑ins to help me stay on track. Whenever I needed guidance or space to focus on assignments, it was provided without hesitation. Overall, I felt fully supported and trusted, which made completing the apprenticeship a much smoother and more positive experience.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I received a very high level of support from my training provider throughout the programme. I was nervous at the start because I haven’t studied since my A‑levels and I’ve been with the company for 24 years, so getting used to academic work again — especially the format of assignments and referencing — felt quite daunting. My tutor was incredibly patient, reassuring and consistent in their support. They took time to explain things clearly, checked in regularly, and helped me build confidence in areas I initially struggled with. Thanks to their guidance, I was able to settle into the expectations of the programme and make real progress. The support I received made a huge difference to my experience.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The programme has had a significant impact on how I perform in my role. I am now a qualified coach and able to confidently coach colleagues across the business, which has enriched my role enormously. The apprenticeship has strengthened my communication, questioning and reflective practice, and has given me structured coaching approaches I can apply in real situations. This has helped me support people more effectively, build stronger relationships and add even more value as a Learning Manager and Business Partner. Being able to coach with confidence has elevated the way I work and has made a noticeable difference to the support I can offer others.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes — there are lots of extra‑curricular activities to get involved in. We have regular social events and well being activities, as well as plenty of opportunities to network across the business and externally. We also have a number of internal community groups that bring people together around shared interests and causes. These activities really help build connections, create a sense of belonging, and make the workplace feel even more supportive and engaging.
