Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work within the Children and Young People Public Health team, where my role focuses on supporting a better start in life for children and young people across Barnsley. My day‑to‑day work is varied and centred around improving outcomes during pregnancy, infancy, and early childhood, recognising how early experiences can shape long‑term health and wellbeing.
A key part of my role sits within the emotional health and wellbeing workstream. This includes supporting preventative and early‑intervention work. I am involved in planning, promoting and supporting areas of this work and initiatives.
I also contribute to work that supports vulnerable children and families, working in partnership with colleagues across public health, health visiting, early help and voluntary sector services. This includes supporting projects and communications.
Alongside this, I carry out work around infant feeding, supporting breastfeeding and infant feeding initiatives through communications, resources and partnership working. This includes contributing to public‑facing messaging, supporting group delivery and using evidence‑based approaches to promote informed and supported infant feeding choices.
Overall, my role combines project coordination, partnership working, communications and community engagement, all with the shared aim of reducing inequalities and improving early life outcomes for children and young people.
