Software Engineer Placement Review

My standard day as a Software Engineer typically starts at 8am (however I am free to start anywhere between 7:30 to 9:30, 8am is my preference). I have some focus time for myself, which I usually spend doing little admin work, working on my current ticket (piece of work) and preparing for stand up. After my stand up my days can vary quite a lot. It will be a mix of meetings, solo developer work, or pair work with other developers on harder tickets.
Alongside with my main job I also had a year long project which was with the other placement students. There is 6 of us from all different roles. I'm expected to dedicate around 3 hours a week to this side project. The aim of the side project is to give us the placement students a free swing at a business problem.

Yes! I was given many responsibilities so far. Few stand outs was a 6 week implementation with a third party into our backend service. I had to read the documentation, come up with the design and implement the code. I had help when I asked for it but I was trusted with majority of the project which is exactly how I love to learn.

Yes for sure! Big highlight is are my technical skills. Data analysis, coding and IT systems knowledge.
I also learned many soft skills like presenting and overall confidence.

I received a lot of support. Everyone on my team was helpful and really happy to explain new topics to me. I had weekly 1 on 1 with my tech lead, my line manager and I was also assigned a buddy whom I met once a month to direct me on my learning

Easily a 10/10! I went to university at 22, I've had few jobs before that and I never worked in a place this good! It's very good to look forward to my days and to actually enjoy the work I do :)
