Spring Insight Intern Review

The programme is centred on the Global Advisory division and introduced me to their M&A, debt and restructuring and equity advisory businesses. During the programme, l had the opportunity to experience the working environment by spending time shadowing junior bankers, as well as taking part in informative skills sessions, listening to presentations and networking with senior bankers. I also collaborated with a group of 6 to produce a M&A pitch deck.

I gained a more thorough understanding about the banking industry through attending the information sessions on different businesses: M&A, Equity Advisory, Debt Advisory and Restructuring. The bankers and HRs are very friendly and introduced us to all the available summer internship and graduate roles in Rothschild. I was also paired up with a buddy - a Debt Advisory analyst, who gave me valuable career and life advice.

I gained valuable insights into how bankers construct presentation decks through the feedback given by senior bankers (MDs, Directors) on our presentation. I also learnt financial knowledge such as valuation methods and financial statements.

The culture in Rothschild is less cutthroat compared to other banks with a strong focus on maintaining a good work-life balance. People are very nice, supportive and friendly. The management structure is also relatively flat, so there isn't much of a hierarchy culture, e.g. the MDs would be willing to talk to a summer intern.
