Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am working at a bus station in Greater Manchester full time, whilst doing a Level 5 operational management apprenticeship. My apprenticeship is taught once a month (3 hr lessons) and I use about 3 working days to work on my apprenticeship (Including the teaching day). I do assignments and further reading in this time. Whilst I work as a facilities coordinator, I record relevant on the job learning on my learning journal, this is in line with my personal development plan.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I find the programme very enjoyable. It's good to learn theories relevant to management whilst also working and seeing it done in the real world.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Through my apprenticeship, I will be learning about people management, financial planning and project management. These are all new skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
We have had a couple of issues due to external factors, but the course overall is very well organised and there is a clear time frame and deadlines that we need to meet. I feel like everything has been done to mitigate the external factors affect on our apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I can talk to my line manager about any issues I have. My study needs have been taken into account.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The training provider has given me all the relevant information and laid out all the elements needed for me to achieve my qualification. The marking specifications show how much and what information we need to put in to our assignments. There is clear information on how we can do self study and where to find further reading.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It gives me an opportunity to learn leadership skills, which is vital for my role and for potential future roles.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There is an apprenticeship network, where we have social events such as coffee mornings.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Transport for Greater Manchester to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think the work life balance, even while working full time on site, is great. I have enough time to live well and not just work. When I go to work I feel supported by my colleagues and line manager and enjoy the job I do.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Transport for Greater Manchester?
I would say please read the job specification and do some research on our transport system. There are many open days run by TFGM (Transport for greater Manchester) and attending them would give a better idea of how things are run in different departments.
