Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Working in a variety of departments around the store, including dispensing glasses, advising customers on frames and pricing, pre-testing the customer before they see the optometrist, contact lens, fitting and repairing glasses, and more.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Before starting my apprenticeship I didn't know anything about optics, now I can confidently display and demonstrate the skills I have learned along this programme within y day to day.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My coaching was verry supportive through the process of my apprenticeship, which made me feel more conformable and less stressed at times. As well as this, I knew I could rely on my coach for advice on situations in and outside of work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Time was allocated for me to do my off the job learning per week, this was to keep on top of work and assignments that I had to complete. As well as this, my colleagues also offered support and training where needed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Due to this programme, I can now confidently and efficiently preform better within my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Work events and homeless nights. This is where the company offer optical service monthly after working hours to the homeless and allows us to volunteer to these nights.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Specsavers?
To do research on optics o get a base knowledge due to the amount of information and detail that is included. However, also not to worry due to the support offered to help you learn this knowledge.
