Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Lockton?
Having completed a year on the graduate scheme, I can confidently say it has been immensely rewarding. My time here has been filled with invaluable opportunities for growth, continuous learning, and significant career development. In particular, I have been entrusted with meaningful responsibilities and challenging assignments that have allowed me to expand my knowledge and skills. This growth has been fueled both by my pursuit of the CII qualification and by engaging in diverse work projects. The variety of tasks available is exceptional, and the support and expertise within each department are truly unparalleled. The organisation’s familial atmosphere is genuinely felt throughout.
Rotating through different areas of the business has been an especially enjoyable aspect, granting me insight into how the company operates, how departments are structured, and how each contributes to delivering top-tier solutions and services to clients. The independence of the firm is evident, especially in its unwavering commitment to a client-centric approach that permeates every team. Interacting with colleagues at all levels, from conversations with the CEO to guidance from my mentor and discussions with partners, has shown me how approachable and supportive everyone is within the organisation.
Moreover, the graduate scheme has fostered a strong sense of community among us graduates. Through social events, organised activities, and shared discussions about our experiences, I feel a genuine connection with those who are on this journey alongside me.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
The main responsibilities vary by business area. In the Global Real Estate team, my client-facing tasks included ensuring smooth renewals and exceptional service through client presentations on key risks and mitigation strategies, report generation, data analysis, research, event planning, broking, maintaining underwriter relationships, and contract negotiations.
In my current role with Jewelers Block (Fine Art and Specie sector - Transportation), I work on wholesale insurance, focusing on sourcing optimal coverage for retail brokers and handling technical, fast-paced tasks. Responsibilities include forming endorsements, managing Firm Order documents, optimising spreadsheets, using placing systems, and addressing surplus lines tax.
Additionally, I serve on the Lockton Pride Associate Resource Group Committee, mainly organising events and leading initiatives like securing keynote speakers for associates. The role is both challenging and rewarding.
I recently also had an additional presentation to young school children about my role and Lockton as a whole.
