Fixed Term Intern Review

I interned over the summer as a Summer Analyst in the Global Advisory team at Rothschild & Co. My role involved supporting one of the sector teams with origination and execution mandates across M&A and capital markets. The day-to-day involved building pitch books, drafting client materials, conducting financial and market research, and performing financial analysis for various projects.

One of the best parts about interning or working at Rothschild & Co is the entrepreneurial culture of the firm. As a junior employee, I worked on a vast range of projects spanning different sectors and functions that the bank covers, which allowed me to gain an in-depth insight into investment banking as a job. I also had multiple opportunities to contribute my ideas and work independently, which I appreciated as a junior member of the team.

I definitely both learnt new skills and developed existing ones. Some of the new skills that I picked up were multitasking under pressure and being able to organise my schedule effectively in a corporate setting. Other skills, such as teamwork and communication, were developed greatly over the course of the internship as well, allowing me to come out of the programme as an improved professional.

I was mentored throughout the programme. Rothschild & Co has a very valuable system of buddies that support you both within the firm and within your team specifically, so there are always people you can ask for support and guidance.

The culture at Rothschild & Co is entrepreneurial and collaborative. The firm prides itself on its values and the effort it makes to foster a positive, industrious culture within the bank. I definitely felt like I was part of a bigger family while interning there.

I thoroughly enjoyed my internship and I would highly recommend students to apply for the programme to get a true sense of what investment banking looks like in a top-tier financial institution.
