I like the varied tasks but there’s always ups and downs when working in customer service.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Never worked in optics before so I’ve learnt a lot of new skills, I would say I’ve also become more confident as I’ve had to talk to many people.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

They changed the layout of my learning whilst I was going through it which was a little confusing, but overall it was pretty organised.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Support is there if I need it. My apprenticeship coach is lovely and always helpful.

Would you recommend Specsavers to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I enjoy my job but I often don’t feel as valued as I did at other jobs, especially as I’m a little older than the average apprentice I felt that I was working at the same level as my colleagues but getting paid almost half of what they were on.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Specsavers?
Don’t rush ahead and try and learn everything too quickly, there is a lot more to optics than you think.
