Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
On a daily basis I complete a variety of tasks such as; helping customers choose glasses, understand their prescription and how that works in their lenses, dispensing new glasses, fitting glasses, adjusting glasses, doing pre-checks for the opticians and more.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
It is a great program that is very fascinating. The more I learn, the more I want to learn. It also helps that I am surround by a great team that is very supportive.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt a variety of skills from basic transferable skills to specialised skills specific to the optical industry.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The learning off the shop floor is structured and you always know what you're going to work on next, it is also customisable to you individually. They recently redid a lot of the learning and I think it makes things a lot clearer, it is also nice to know they are constantly working on it to improve it.
The learning on the shop floor is great too, though it is not as structured, you can request certain sections to ensure your learning links up in both areas.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Every one is very supportive in making sure you get the most out of your apprenticeship, you can definitely tell they want you to succeed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
We have regular catch ups and you can request extra ones if you need them. They consistently review your logs to ensure you're on track. You can also message them any time on teams and they respond very quickly.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I get a better understanding why and behind the scenes of what I would be learning without the training. Having time to reflect on what I am learning also helps the information to stick better.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
We often have social activities you can attend like a walk for charity or iceskating, and every Tuesday we do training which sometimes includes group activities like making pancakes or pumpkin carving.
