Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
On my day to day basis, I am making sure all tasks are done before the next day for example collection of customer glasses, confirming appointments, appointment reminders, ordering of glasses and delivery from the production of glasses needed, doing all scans needed before seeing the optometrist for the full eye test. Getting 4 hours a week to do coursework for the due date set by coaches and having calls to prepare and discuss progress.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy this programme as it gets me to not just do retail work but also learning experiences by doing the apprenticeship and having a big team to help me along the way

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I hadn't been in optics before getting into the apprenticeship itself, I have learnt alot of new skills and knowledges I didn't have before

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is very organised and structured as all meetings are prepared and structured in sections so starting off with my wellbeing and general catch up, following onto my course work for example what I have been learning recently to what my next tasks are. We keep in track of what week I am on for the apprenticeship and how many hours I have logged for learning time or not logged.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a specific amount of support as our employer isn't always in store

5/5
I feel that my qualifications help me perform better in my role as it has given me the knowledge and skills I didn't have at the start of my apprenticeship as I hadn't worked in optics before
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I am a part of our PR and marketing team that set up all social events influencing our business and health to the community

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Specsavers to a friend?
Yes
Why?
it is a great career skill to have as health is really important for the body itself, and having the customer service role in the job is also another major part especially as it is retail
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Specsavers?
I would advise if you haven't tried optics before to start a apprenticeship as you get to learn as you go and do extra courses to gain more skills and knowledge throughout the job
