Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I write and execute automated and manual tests for the savings management platform. This ensures that any changes work correctly and as expected. I also perform other types of testing such as accessibility testing, cross browser testing and exploratory testing. I have also had the opportunity to perform some development work with support from the development team. I have also been completing a project with other placements/apprentices about cyber security which involves lots of research.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, from the start I was treated like a normal member of my team and given lots of responsibility and tasks to do, but with as much support from other members of the team that I needed.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have developed my soft skills and also my computing skills. I am more comfortable with programming and writing reports, and I have worked in an agile scrum team for a year now so my teamwork and communication skills have greatly improved. I have also presented multiple times to a large amount of people, helping me develop my presentation skills.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I was provided with a mentor and a buddy to meet with regularly and to ask any questions to that I needed. I also received lots of support from my manager and members of my team around day to day support for my role.

The company culture and general atmosphere is great, everybody was very nice and helpful no matter what you were talking or asking them about. Everyone is very happy to help.

Prepare for the assessment centre by practicing your ability to work in a team with others to find a solution to problems, as well as being able to use the time in your day effectively. Practice interview questions.
