Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My job title is a WTC Resourcing PMO intern. I sit within the consulting side of IBM in the public section under the welfare, tax, and customs (WTC) cluster of IBMS. I will be working on project support and commercial aspects of several projects and typical work involves resourcing, clearances, and Ad Hoc activities.
My duties and responsibilities within the role as a consultancy and resource support intern involves:
• Onboarding and offboarding individuals
• Manage resources
• Working with PM’s and senior management to identify key focus areas as well as managing open seats for more than 10 projects.
• Work with recruitment agencies to bring in contractors.
• Planning and arranging speaker events.
Project support, communicating with project managers, managing commercials.
Emails, managing and updating trackers, leading meetings, creating slide decks for meetings, creating comms messages, creating assets for projects.
Daily meetings, reporting to my team, and communicating with stakeholders.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given responsibility at IBM from day 1. IBM encourage you to go and find opportunities to enrich your professional experience. Everyone at IBM treats you with respect and allows you to take on as much responsibility as you want. I was never made to feel like as an Intern you couldn't do certain things, instead they encouraged you to find experiences which would challenge you

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I was given a lot of support and guidance. If you need help on your internship at IBM, everyone is willing to provide it. They encourage you to ask questions and seek help when you need it. I was never once made to feel like I was asking as illy question when I asked for help. They understand you are interns at the start of your professional journey and are willing to help you if you need.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Company culture is very unique at IBM. There is always a push on developing your skills whether that be through hands on experience, seeking out opportunities outside your core role, or learning through their own up-skilling learning platform.
I believe the culture of IBM is what made my internship experience as good as it was.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I enjoyed my internship a lot, whilst it was challenging and difficult at times, looking back on the year I have had, the opportunities I experienced, and the skills developed, I am so happy that I did one.
