Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role was to help out my team and do any tasks given to me to the best of my ability. My typical day would involve carrying out these tasks such as completing embodied carbon calculations and if I was finished then I would continue with my grasshopper training.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
With the tasks given I was given responsibility to carry these out however I was still provided with support when needed. Because I was only an intern there for a month however, I wasn’t given huge responsibilities which I felt suited me the best as I was there to learn and develop a basic understanding of how engineers work in the office.

I have learnt the basics of grasshopper and how people can use it to create flexible and changeable models of structures. I have also learnt what structural engineers do on a day to day basis.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The companies atmosphere is relaxed and calm which to me made me settle in quickly and I was always able to get on with all the employees in the office. Within the structures team it felt like there was a nice sense of community, and from my experience, especially with the interns and younger staff who I was with for the majority of the time there. I also found the office to be diverse and inclusive.
