Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
On the day to day basis I do Administrator work where I update our HR systems with line manager changes, salary changes, etc. I also support our US region with their admin tasks such as sending letters and updating systems. I also complete project work such as the auditing of files and compliance with GDPR.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy learning and having the opportunity to grow more and get my foot in the door to enter the HR field. I do find that the role does mean I am stressed at some points and some tasks feel overwhelming at times. But overall I enjoy my role and the rewarding feeling it gives me at the end of the day.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed better functional English skills such as using better language in my emails and knowing how tone can affect an email. I have also learnt a lot about different systems such as Excel and the HR systems Buro Happold uses. I've learnt how to do right to work checks for starters and the proper steps in verifying a variety of right to work documents.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My program is structured as I have sessions with my apprenticeship provider on a regular basis as well as a day to complete my apprenticeship work once a week giving me the ability to focus more on my apprenticeship. There are times where work does mean I have to sacrifice that day of work experience because of my work load but I do have the opportunity to talk to my line manager weekly about any struggles or a change in routine.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer with my apprenticeship having time to complete my work and the flexibility to fit my apprenticeship work around my working life to ensure I have the best opportunities in my role possible. They also have a lot of support in regards to subjects outside of just my apprenticeship such as wellbeing support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My training provider also provides me a significant amount of support with regular catch ups to track my progress and regular reviews to suggest what my next steps should be. There was a time where I was with out a college mentor due to complications but the situation was resolved and I now have a lot of support and training sessions that give me a chance to grow.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I think my qualification has helped me a lot when doing my work. It helped me first understand what HR was and has helped me to continue to grow in my role becoming more confident in the work I am doing and being able to better support the team I am apart of
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes Buro Happold offers a variety of opportunities such as the young engineers forum which organises sports events, meeting every Wednesday, charity events, litter picking and social events after work. They also offer opportunities such as running groups going out at lunch on a Wednesday/
