Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Day-to-day tasks are different from project to project, depending on the type of support it requires. This can include coordination of engineering teams to submit documents according to deadlines, reporting on the financial health of a project, producing invoices, and planning resourcing and finances.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I have received a lot more responsibility than I originally expected to. I've lead a team in delivering during a submission, and taken responsibility in the product of internal investment documents. I've probably reached the limit of responsibility I can take with the little experience I have.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

The team I was working with were really really supportive and were more than happy to answer any questions or provide advice. There was more structured support too, as I had both a line manager and a mentor. Having a mentor was a huge support as I was adjusting to the professional working environment. There is also an opportunity to set goals throughout the year, with my manager supporting in providing the opportunities to work towards them.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The atmosphere was so so welcoming and extremely friendly. It was really refreshing and sounded a lot more supportive than the experiences I had heard from other placement students. Within the company, there were opportunities to get involved in social events.
