Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Helping customers with their journey from booking appointments, carrying out tests and sending orders there was always something new to learn.It is a good place to meet new people and grow your confidence and knowledge.I had an amazing team around me who were able to help and provide support to make sure I felt comfortable day in day out.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy it very much from the practical side to the coursework as it mixed my week up.I was able to use the knowledge I gained from the coursework side and relay that when I was on the shop floor dealing with customers in real life situations.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed many new social skills and it has made me more confident talking and meeting new people.I have gained so much knowledge about the eyes which is very interesting and is intriguing me to want to learn more.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I would say it is very well structured as I always knew what my next steps were and i was always asked is I am ready to move on to the next thing.

I had such a good team around me from my managers and colleagues in store to my coaches

They have always made sure I understand what I need to do to achieve my end goal.They have given me the right resources to help guide me me to reach my next steps and have made me feel confident in myself to do so.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It has given me more confidence as I am more aware of the topic and I have more knowledge which helps me carry out my role and provide a good service to every customer I see.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

The team is very close and we see each other outside of work sometimes.Having a good relationship with colleagues helps the day run smoothly and is nice to be able to work with friends who will be there to support if needed.

Specsavers is a very close team who work well together to provide a good service to everyone who comes in.We want out customers to have trust in us and our products.The program was very good at helping me develop new skills with my education and my social interactions with different people.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Specsavers?
It is a very rewarding job as you get to see how you are helping and changing people’s lives.It may be hard sometimes but staying consistent, focused and determined to do the best you can you will see the benefits.
