Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As a data engineer, my role involves ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of data across systems to support business intelligence, reporting, and decision-making. On a day-to-day basis, I manage and monitor data pipelines to ensure data is ingested, transformed, and delivered reliably and on time. I work extensively with Snowflake as our central data warehouse, optimizing queries, managing schemas, and ensuring data integrity across environments.
A typical day starts with checking the status of our automated data workflows to identify and resolve any failures or performance issues. I also maintain and improve dashboards used by stakeholders across the business, ensuring they reflect accurate, up-to-date information and are aligned with evolving metrics or business needs. Throughout the day, I collaborate with analysts and other teams to understand data requirements, support ad hoc analysis, and translate complex business questions into efficient data models or queries.
Beyond the technical work, a key part of my role involves documentation, code reviews, and ensuring best practices in data governance and pipeline design. I’m often involved in scoping and implementing new data sources or tools that improve our data ecosystem's scalability and reliability. Overall, my role sits at the intersection of engineering and analytics, enabling teams to trust and leverage data effectively across the organization.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy the Multiverse programme—it’s been both challenging and rewarding. It offers a great balance between practical, hands-on learning and theoretical foundations, which has helped me apply new concepts directly to my day-to-day work. I particularly value how relevant the content is to real-world data engineering, from best practices in pipeline design to understanding modern data stacks.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, through the Multiverse program, I've both developed new skills and significantly deepened my understanding of existing ones. One of the most impactful aspects has been learning industry best practices, particularly around data modeling, pipeline design, and version control. It's encouraged me to take a more critical and structured approach to how our data systems are built and maintained.
I've also gained a stronger appreciation for the importance of understanding our full tech stack—not just how tools like Snowflake or our dashboards function in isolation, but how they fit together in our broader data architecture. This has helped me become more proactive in identifying inefficiencies or potential improvements, and it's given me greater confidence in contributing to technical discussions and planning.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The Multiverse programme is very well structured and thoughtfully organized. Each module builds on the last in a logical and progressive way, which makes it easier to retain and apply new knowledge. The balance between live sessions, independent study, and project work helps reinforce learning and ensures that concepts aren’t just theoretical but grounded in real-world application.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a great deal of support from my employer, which has made a big difference in my experience with the programme. They’re very encouraging of my development and give me the time and space I need to focus on learning, whether that’s attending sessions, completing coursework, or applying new skills on the job.
My team is also highly supportive—colleagues are open to sharing knowledge, providing feedback, and involving me in projects that align with what I’m learning. This has helped me bridge the gap between theory and practice, and made the programme feel even more relevant to my role.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive strong and consistent support from my training provider, Multiverse, while working towards my qualifications. The coaches are knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely invested in my progress—they provide detailed feedback on assignments, help clarify complex topics, and regularly check in to ensure I’m on track.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel that the qualification I’m working towards through Multiverse has had a significant positive impact on my performance in my role. The content is highly relevant to the work I do day-to-day, and it’s helped me build a much deeper understanding of data engineering principles, tools, and best practices.
I’ve become more confident in tackling technical challenges, whether that’s optimizing pipelines, improving data quality, or collaborating with other teams on data-driven projects. It’s also encouraged me to think more critically about how we use our tech stack and where we can make improvements. Overall, the qualification is not only expanding my skills but also enabling me to deliver more value to my team and the business.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes there are multiple activates one can get involved in from yoga and sports clubs to board games and coffee mornings.
