Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Providing effective administrative support within given timescales. Being a first point of contact, providing assistance and support for both external and internal customers and ensuring that enquiries are dealt with efficiently and with a high level of customer care. Acting in accordance with the Council’s Constitution and other Codes of Conduct, as well as agreed policies and procedures. Being responsible for ordering goods, equipment, materials and resources for the processing of associated documents and accounts.
Providing support to team members and managers in undertaking financial transactions, adhering to procedures, and using appropriate systems. Ensuring effective recording and handover systems for all Business Support Unit tasks to ensure all Service requests are completed. Undertaking regular stock checks and preparation of meetings, training and conference materials using appropriate software packages. Managing all post, electronic, mailbox and physical, through the Business Support Units as well as scanning. Making sure the environments and equipment are safe and in good order if any error report a repair onto the system. Working in Family hubs daily on frontline to provide support for external and internal customers by face to face/virtually and coordinating meeting requests when requested. Working with ONE system to accurately create and record Special Personal Learning Plans for children that requires support in behaviour, medical, safety, integration, Social Emotional Mental Health reasons. Also delivering safely from Schools given information such as exclusions, permanent exclusions, on register forms, off register forms or any enquiries into ONE system and directing to certain teams responsible. Also working with Elective Home Education officers to provide support on recording updates and letters from children learning at home to ONE system. Also creating involvements such as penalty notices on ONE system and sending out fine letters to parents.
Taking calls in regards social services, booking requests to provide immediate support in any enquiry asked. Shadowing other teams and providing support on Eclipse to confidentially deal with children’s case notes from the social workers as well as taken training on Eclipse system.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Really enjoyed the apprenticeship journey. Met wonderful people throughout the apprenticeship. I have always felt welcomed, accepted and not afraid to come forward if I needed any help from the apprenticeship providers or my own team.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Well organised - The work has been balanced and if I felt overwhelmed there was always alternative dates/arrangements for me to feel like it is achievable.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My immediate team have been very supportive throughout the apprenticeship. When I needed support within covers or the work to complete the apprenticeship, there has always been a member of the team or my own team leader who has come forward whenever I felt I needed help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have felt supported, if I was ever stuck or felt like there was no solution, my training provider has always responded promptly to my enquiries and has always given me a great advice and has been with me throughout the journey.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I have learned a lot of useful skills that it has not only benefited me within the career journey, but also my own personal development, where I felt I got more confidence in my own abilities.
