Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
During my apprenticeship I had on the job training while studying. I worked in Children Services, providing admin support to Social Workers across Wolverhampton, and worked on the reception desk communicating with families, as first point of contact, and signposting them to the correct social care services.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoyed my apprenticeship at Wolverhampton Council, as I was exposed to so many different areas of the Council. I felt like I learnt a lot of valuable skills that I will be able to showcase in the future. The Council provided me with a lot of support and indicated so many opportunities post apprenticeship too.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I learnt many skills in the duration of my apprenticeship, such as:
Interpersonal skills, as I had to communicate with families.
IT Skills while learning how to navigate around the social care systems.
Organisation skills as I was a receptionist, and had to be proactive with the diary and events calendar for the family centre I worked in.
General Knowledge of Wolverhampton Council and each directorate within the Council, which I was able to showcase in my new role post apprenticeship

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My Apprenticeship programme lasted exactly 12 months. I felt it was very organised as I had workshops each month, and a study day once a week. I felt that I settled into the programme quite quickly too. The Council were supportive throughout this period. The EPA was very strucured too.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Wolverhampton Council supported me throughout the duration of my apprenticeship and I used to have monthly meeting with an Apprenticeship Officer to provide updates of how I am doing, and any support I may need. At the end of Apprenticeship, they provided opportunities that I could go into post Apprenticeship. I am now permanantly working as an Executive Assistant at the Council, and the Apprenticeship team still reach out to see if there is any support they can provide, or any further opportunities they can support with.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The training provider was really supportive, I used to have monthly meeting with them that consisted of learning and exam/presentation practise. These lasted around 2/3 hours. During the periods of time between these meetings, she'd be in touch via email and always around to answer questions. Bi- monthly, my tutor used to come in person to meet me in a work setting, to get an incite of how I had been progressing.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
One of the main skills that I learnt from my Apprenticeship qualification that I use in my role as an Executive Assistant is project management skills. In my day to day tasks in my current role I feel that managing projects and meetings efficiently is key, which was one of the main skills I had learnt from my apprenticeship.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Wolverhampton Council provide many opportunities, especially for professional networking events. Since the completion of my apprenticeship, I have been invited to attend an operational managers network to present some slides about my apprenticeship journey. Furthermore, with support from the Council I am starting an Aim Into Management Course this year, to progress further into my career.
