As a electronic engineering technician within Newcastle University, we are responsible for maintaining a quality work environment for the students, making sure the equipment is working, there is plenty stock of resources they may need and also preparing the tools/equipment for their teaching labs.
Our daily tasks commonly fluctuate vastly, from troubleshooting equipment/circuitry, to 3d designing a item and even our own PCB design, there is always a new task every week.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy my apprenticeship, i am able to come into work and learn a new thing everyday without fail and due to the constantly changing tasks means work never gets repetitive.

I have gained more skills and knowledge than i ever could of imagined, being in a University environment means that there is always things to learn and infinite resources to obtain that knowledge.

My programme is well structured in my opinion, I was enrolled onto my training programme with no issues and i have now been recently enrolled onto my HNC qualification course!
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Due to being in the University environment, there is a huge amount of support from other technicians and the lectures which have commonly assisted me in my learning.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have a consistent monthly meeting with my personal assessor from my training provider, they help make sure i am learning the right things and also help get me prepared for my end point assessment.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My qualification i have finished through my training provider is pretty relevant to my job role, without it i would find myself with a fair few gaps in my knowledge.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There is commonly team building events that take place, as well as the opportunity to go on in-company lessons on various subjects related to your role, for example i have been to a programming lesson before.
