Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Acting HR manager for smaller site. Managing people practices on site such as absences, ER cases, FWR, PIPs dealing with SF and pay. Providing advice to FLMs and OCs managing and building relationships with stakeholders such as GM, customer, HR team, senior management. HR support through TUPE consultations and potential restructures. Split time with drinks and do the same for them in advisor role and attend union meetings and pay negotiations. Projects: WFD, TUPE, Restructures, management upskilling, DI&B action plans across network.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy the programme and feel it compliments my work and current role well. I sometimes struggle with the workload as I am already splitting my time between two contracts.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Partnering skills, developed stronger communication skills, strategic thinking, I have become more data analytic and have gained more confidence and experience in conflict resolution.

The programme is structured well with regular workshops and reviews.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from my employer and frequently tailor my learnings on site to match what I am learning in my apprenticeship. I do sometimes struggle with workload but it is up to me to speak up and flag it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We have regular workshops and 121s and have option to contact them directly if needed support. I have recently undergone a difficult time with a tutor and remainder of staff and other tutors have stepped in and been amazing in the support they have provided to ensure I was back on track.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Yes I feel like I have more confidence and greater knowledge in my role which helps me perform better from the training. It has also been so helpful in the workshops to hear other peoples experience and network which has really helped my learning.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
