Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Having worked on multiple projects, my day-to-day usually is checking emails/messages, meetings with colleagues/managers, and completing deliverables.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I have enjoyed my time.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
For sure, whether that's technical skills like programming or developing upon soft skills like effective communication/navigating the work culture.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Whilst university is structured, at IBM there is no structure - you go from one project to the next, with downtime between them and you are expected to find opportunities yourself.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Whether its manager support, colleagues supporting, or general university support, you will be hard pressed to go without someone to listen to you.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
IBM has their own qualifications you can complete, and sponsor the acquisition of others through vouchers.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
In the university modules, most won't apply to your role, but there are some generic business ones that help you understand how organisations like IBM run, for example.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Networking events (though they've died down), internal communities etc like the Book Club.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend IBM to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The culture you surround yourself with - hard-working, ambitious and talented individuals.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
Have activities that you've done - DofE, NCS, part of a club etc that developed your soft skills and challenged your problem-solving in your back pocket and on hand if questioned.
