Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My job role is Aircraft fitting. This can range from small jobs which are done on the bench to bigger jobs which can require a jig to work from. My jobs consist of freeze fitting bushes with liquid nitrogen to installing anchor nuts.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I do quite enjoy the programme that I'm on. I'm constantly learning new skills which I enjoy because it gives me the confidence to push myself onto the harder jobs.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Since being an apprentice I have learned many new skills. I have worked on very complex jobs and have been given the best guidance from my mentor. When I first started I didn't know how to read engineering drawings which I can now read and understand.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is well structured as I've been given one of the most skilled and qualified members of the team to train me and make sure I'm being given all of the knowledge required to progress. I then have monthly meetings with management to track my progress.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a good amount of support from my employer. If I ever have any issues or questions they're always quick to support me and help resolve the issue or answer any questions.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a lot of support from my training provider. He holds a meeting with me every 6 Weeks to track my progress and I can ask any questions I may have. I'm always given guidance on tasks that I'm not fully sure on.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The work that I do through my training provider does differ slightly to the work that I do in work so sometimes it can be a little bit of a challenge. Overall though I do find it beneficial as it gives me a better insight into different aspects of engineering.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Every year our company will invite everyone to a Christmas Do in the centre of Manchester. This is a nice gesture as Food and Drinks are all paid for and it's a nice social you can have with work friends.

I would recommend Hyde Group to a friend as it's a really good career path to take. It's helped me develop as a person and I've gained so many new skills from working for this company.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Hyde Group?
Do your research into the company so you know what to expect when applying for a company within the group. There's so many companies within the group and all of the work differs, so find what best suits you.
