Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work in Group Finance in the month-end close team. We work to reconcile the group position each month by looking after the accounts payable, accounts receivable, expenses, fixed assets, banking and intercompany transactions. My daily tasks consist of reconciling the subsidiary bank accounts, supporting the business to enter their invoices/expenses and preparing our client invoices.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy completing my exams, Kaplan are very supportive and the teaching is amazing. The Early Talent team at work are great, they ensure you constantly feel supported and get you involved in the business right from the first day.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

The main skills I have learnt are the workplace skills. I completed a degree at university before starting my apprenticeship through my graduate job. Therefore, I already had a lot of the basic knowledge but have built up skills such as time management, communication and leadership in the workplace.

My exam programme is very structured and laid out, I know what is expected of me and the timeline for this.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Work allow me to go to my days in Kaplan for my exam learning. However, my role is driven by business needs, so anything development or extra learning I do in my own time.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Kaplan are great, they provide so much support and constantly check in with you. They sent regular communication and the tutors genuinely care about your wellbeing.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel the qualification helps directly in my role to help me perform better. Every area I learn helps me understand the business better and the roles and responsibilities of colleagues in finance.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We have professional colleagues networks which we are able to be involved with. This covers lots of areas of diversity, equity and inclusion and is welcoming to all. These help you build up your professional network and get to know other colleagues in the business.

Just be yourself. NBS are very inclusive and the more you are yourself, the more you demonstrate the right behaviours which they are looking for in the business.
