As a shift manager, my role involves overseeing daily operations, ensuring warehouse operatives efficiency, and maintaining customer satisfaction. I am responsible for monitoring performance metrics, enforcing safety protocols, and facilitating communication between lower and upper management to ensure smooth operations. Additionally, I lead coaching initiatives to develop and mentor future leaders, ensuring a competent and motivated team.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I greatly enjoy my Supply Chain Leadership course at Sheffield Hallam University. The lectures incorporate interactive group activities that promote teamwork and build confidence. The insights gained from the Discovery Questionnaire significantly enhance my self-awareness. Additionally, the training on various reflective models will be valuable even after the program, teaching vital skills. The blend of practical and academic learning effectively prepares me for real-world challenges.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The Supply Chain Leadership program at Sheffield Hallam University is well-organised and structured, featuring a clear curriculum that guides me and other student through essential concepts and skills. Classes are thoughtfully scheduled, balancing lectures and practical activities and occasionally including touchpoints between assignments should we need additional support (especially in the final year). Supportive resources, such as access to Blackboard materials, enhance the learning experience and ensure I stay on track. Overall, the program provides a cohesive framework that creates effective learning and development.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive significant support from my employer. My mentor is always available to guide and assist me, having been instrumental in my development from my first year to my final year (current). Additionally, I have weekly meetings every Friday with my mentor to discuss my progress, ensuring I stay on track with all my assignments. My line manager also provides valuable support on university projects and regularly checks in to see if I need help with assignments.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive excellent support - they are prompt in responding to my emails and always available to address any questions or concerns I have. Their guidance is thorough and insightful, providing detailed feedback on my assignments that helps me understand areas for improvement. This consistent support not only clarifies academic concepts but also boosts my confidence in applying what I’ve learned and has helped my improved year on year with my grades.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The key skills I’ve acquired from the Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviors (KSB) framework are directly applicable to my everyday tasks. For instance, I've developed stronger analytical skills, improved my ability to work in teams, and gained effective communication techniques. These skills not only boost my confidence but also allow me to contribute more effectively to my team and workplace initiatives. Overall, the qualification equips me with valuable tools that directly impact my professional growth and effectiveness.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, there are numerous extra-curricular activities available, including Red Bull VR Racing and various social events like BBQs and site tours. We also have team-building activities such as penalty shootouts, children's games, and fun treats like candy floss and desserts. Additionally, the Dragon Boat Race on July 6th at Willen Lake is a highlight for staff engagement.
