Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I’m currently an IT Degree Apprentice, which means I’m working while studying towards a degree. It’s a mix of learning practical skills on the job whilst also doing academic work. I get to apply what I learn at University at work allowing me to my build experience, grow my confidence, and figure out what parts of tech I enjoy most.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I’m really enjoying the programme. It’s a good mix of hands on experience and University learning. I’ve also developed a lot of new skills, both technical and professional, which makes it feel like I’m constantly progressing.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I’ve been learning networking, communication, and technical skills. At uni, I’ve picked up new programming languages and have the chance to earn industry certifications alongside real work experience.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Overall, the programme is quite well structured. There’s a clear link between what we learn at uni and what we do at work and we have the opportunity to have frequent progress reviews to align the KSB's of the apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I’ve built a good relationship with my employer. I feel comfortable speaking openly about how I’m finding the programme, whether it’s about workload, progress, or anything I’m struggling with. They’re supportive and always willing to listen, which helps me feel more confident and motivated.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My training provider is supportive, and I’ve been able to gain a few qualifications along the way, which has really boosted my skills.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The qualifications I’ve gained have definitely helped me perform better in my role. I can apply what I’ve learned directly to my current projects, and it also aligns well with the modules I’m studying at uni, making both more relevant.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
I’ve taken part in hackathons, helped out with career events, and also attend social events focused on mental health. It’s a great way to connect with colleagues and take a break from the usual work routine.
