Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am a junior project manager/pmo. Day-to-day, I assist the project manager keep track of projects, and report back to the client on them, by completing activities such as creating project checkpoint reports.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the programme a lot (assuming this refers to the programme as a whole), enjoying my time spent at work. I enjoy the amazing amount of opportunities the company presents, the support they provide to aid you in whatever career pathway you want to progress towards, and the flexibility in choosing career paths.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have started to develop a wide range of skills even during my short time on the course. I have developed strong communication and presentation skills, gained valuable understanding of project management skills, and developed my cloud skills from a technical standpoint.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The structure of the programme is good, spending blocks of 1 week at university to complete a module, then multiple at work learning on the job.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer. They are there to support however they can, whether that is helping you work towards a new certification paid for by the company, setting you up with a mentor further down the career pathway you want, or just answering any questions.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
The training provider (de Montfort University) is in general there to support in the course. However, this is largely dependant on who the module leader is for the module, as some are more available to support than others.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
This qualification has a wide range of modules, so within the duration of the course there will inevitably be modules that aid you in your role within the company.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are social events where you can connect with colleagues, for example there was a "lunch and paint" session last month. There are also "hackathons", in which you are split into teams and create a presentation based on a brief, and then present back to judges. This is another good networking opportunity.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend IBM to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a company with a friendly, supportive environment, that provides a lot of support in the career growth of it's employees.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
While it does matter what you know, I think it matters a lot more who you are as a person, especially as an apprentice. Being a friendly, talkative person will get you into a lot of conversations, leading to even more opportunities.
