To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

It's a very good way to develop new and existing skills, knowledge and behaviours within the workplace as well as gain insight into what a career will look like on completion of the apprenticeship,

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Technical skills such as heat treatment, CFC layup, electronic circuit designing, testing and assembly, 3D design, fitting and manufacturing. Developed existing skills in workshop safety and general H&S.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Well organised in terms of the content of the course, some skills are applicable to multiple areas, allowing further and much deeper development, allowing me to take those skills elsewhere within the business.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Plenty of support from mental health, 1-1 help with college or workshop sections, engaging lessons and a well networked company allows you to talk to almost anyone fairly easily.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

1-1 sessions available if needed, plenty of help outside of scheduled lessons and most people are available to talk or give some advice at any point during the day. Very easy to schedule meetings regarding progress concerns with lecturers/skills coaches.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Developing applicable skills, behaviours and knowledge allows apprentices to go into the business with the fundamentals of their roles already well understood, allowing for further developments to be made within each placement/role throughout the apprenticeship.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Football - organised and paid for by apprentices, outward bound - organised through BAE Systems. good and secure instant messaging services through Skype and MS Teams allows for good networking

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Be yourself in any interviews, answer honestly, research the company and the course prior to taking an interview or applying. The application process can take a long time from start to finish but try to submit any tasks or documents in good time for a smoother process. Be open minded
