Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at BAE Systems?
Steep learning curve with lots of great new experiences and networking with people with decades of knowledge of engineering and project management in practice. Great level of support from a personal and professional standpoint, with a real feeling of graduates being valued by the company.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
Liaising with colleagues to discuss designs that I'm creating to solve problems and designing those solutions in industry-leading software packages.

4/5
There is quite a steep learning curve, but I have received lots of support to get up to speed and start making contributions to my team.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
4/5
BAE has lots of perks for employees and pays graduates at one of the highest rates in the industry.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
I will roll off the graduate scheme into a similar roll in the business, having had 18 months of training in the same environment, using the same toolsets and managing the same projects.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
4/5
Most weeks I'm exposed to a new piece of software, programme or toolset that I need to get up to speed with so there are always opportunities to develop professionally. There are also lots of talks and presentations of different functions within the business, which provide a great opportunity to develop outside of the day-to-day role.

Experience & Company Culture

4/5
The company has several sources of support, including a buddy scheme, mentor scheme, early careers practitioners, skills coaches, etc...

There are mechanisms in place to prevent people from overworking and time and attendance is closely managed. There sometimes feels like an expectation to be online quite early.

BAE is set up really well to take on graduates and has a fine-tuned graduate programme which supports early careers individuals in their development throughout the programme. Why?
It's a great company with a broad network structure, a fine-tuned development programme for graduates and limitless opportunities for wherever you want to take your career.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
3/5
I was drafted into a position not based on my experience in the business or degree, this is due to an administration error in the recruitment process.

Just to be entirely familiar with the company and the role that you're applying for.
