Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Role consists of 50% roadside patrol and 50% Performance Leader, managing a team of 27 roadside patrols. I manage the performance and KPI's within my team, deal with claims, compliance, penalty fines, vehicle logistics, disciplinarians, absences, contracts and business rules, holidays and manage/maintain my own performance at the roadside.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
Parts of the program have been good, I prefer class based sessions as appose to Teams. I feel if the course ran over 2 years, then there would be more time to experience the content on the workbooks and deliver better evidence. For example, one of the early workbooks asked to describe a time when you've had a difficult conversation with a member of your team. I was early into my role and hadn't yet experienced this to relate to the question, or evidence it.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Possibly developed higher emotional intelligence, learnt about different management styles and different learning styles. I feel the course needed to be longer as I feel I have just gone through the motions of the course and not retained as much as I possibly could of.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Again, more time is needed. My role as a performance leader takes up a lot of time and fitting in the workbooks in the time given has been difficult, I haven't had a workbook finished for any of the deadlines, all have needed extending. Due to this, I have attended courses for the next workbook when I'm still to complete the previous one. By the time I get around to starting the next workbook, I'm now attending anther class for another workbook.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My line manager has worked with me and allowed me extra time to complete my workbooks. There has never been any issues with support from The AA.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I've had regular support meetings over Teams. Over the duration of the course I have had different teachers, and different levels of support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I don't feel the course has made me into a better manager. Our role is quite unique and I feel if the course was tailored more to our role then it would be an improvement. A lot of the course is generic and doesn't relate to managing a team of 27 patrols remotely. I understand it's a Government Apprenticeship, and it gives you the framework of a management role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Throughout the year there are several social events, team meetings and PL conferences.
