Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
On a day-to-day basis, my role involves coordinating interviews, communicating with candidates and hiring managers, maintaining recruitment systems, supporting job postings, tracking candidate progress, and helping ensure a positive candidate experience. I also assist with administrative tasks such as preparing offer paperwork, updating records, checking compliance requirements, and making sure recruitment processes are followed correctly.
A key part of my role is organisation and communication. I often act as a link between candidates, recruiters, and internal stakeholders, making sure everyone has the information they need and that recruitment activity moves forward efficiently. I also use data and reporting to help monitor recruitment progress, identify delays, and support decision-making within the team.
Overall, my role helps ensure that the talent acquisition process is efficient, professional, and supportive for both candidates and the business.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
I enjoy learning how data, analytics, and AI can support better decision-making, improve processes, and create efficiencies. This links well to my work in Talent Acquisition, where there are opportunities to use data to understand recruitment trends, improve candidate experience, and support workforce planning.
The programme can be challenging at times, especially when balancing apprenticeship work with day-to-day responsibilities, but I find it rewarding because the learning feels useful and applicable. Overall, I enjoy the programme because it is helping me build confidence, develop new analytical skills, and think more strategically about how technology can add value in the workplace.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I have particularly developed my understanding of data analysis, AI, and how technology can support business decision-making. I am becoming more confident in looking at information, identifying patterns, and thinking about how insights can be used to improve processes or solve business problems.
I have also improved existing skills such as communication, organisation, problem-solving, and stakeholder management. These are important in my role because I regularly work with candidates, recruiters, hiring managers, and wider business teams.
Another skill I have developed is being able to think more critically about how AI can be used responsibly and practically in the workplace. Rather than just seeing AI as a tool, I am learning to consider where it can add real value, what risks need to be managed, and how it can support people rather than replace good judgement.
Overall, the programme has helped me build both technical and professional skills that I can apply directly to my role in Talent Acquisition.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?
I find the structure helpful because it allows me to build knowledge gradually, starting with core concepts before applying them to more practical business situations. The focus on AI for Business Value gives the programme a clear direction, and the tasks are usually relevant to how AI, data, and analytics can be used in the workplace.
There can sometimes be a lot to balance alongside my day-to-day role, so good planning is important. However, having scheduled learning, clear deadlines, and support from the programme helps me stay on track.
Overall, I would say the programme is well structured, with a good balance between learning new theory, applying it in practice, and reflecting on how it supports my development at work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
I also receive support from my manager and colleagues, particularly when I need guidance, feedback, or opportunities to apply what I am learning in a real workplace context. This makes the programme feel more relevant because I can connect the learning around AI, data, and business value to my work in Talent Acquisition.
The support is important because it helps me stay on track, build confidence, and develop skills that benefit both my own career progression and the wider team. Overall, I feel that my employer is supportive of my development and encourages me to use the programme as an opportunity to grow professionally.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
The support is helpful because it gives me a clear understanding of the knowledge, skills, and behaviours I need to develop. I can also ask questions when I am unsure about a topic or need clarification on apprenticeship requirements, which helps me stay on track.
I also find the feedback useful, as it helps me understand where I am doing well and where I can improve. This is especially important when completing portfolio work or applying my learning to my role at The AA.
Overall, I feel supported by my training provider, and their guidance helps me build confidence as I work towards successfully completing my qualification.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
I think these activities are valuable because they help build relationships across the business, improve confidence, and create a stronger sense of belonging. They also give employees the chance to meet people from different teams, learn more about the organisation, and develop professional networks.
For me, getting involved in these kinds of activities can support both my personal and professional development. It helps me feel more connected to the workplace and gives me opportunities to build communication and networking skills outside of my normal role in Talent Acquisition.

Why?
I feel The AA is a supportive place to work, with opportunities to learn, develop, and build experience in a professional environment. In my role, I have been able to develop my skills, gain confidence, and receive support from my team and manager while working towards my apprenticeship.
I also think The AA offers a good working environment because there are opportunities to connect with colleagues, get involved in wider activities, and learn more about different areas of the business.
Overall, I would recommend The AA because it has supported my development and given me valuable experience that is helping me progress in my career.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to The AA?
It is useful to understand what The AA does, the services it provides, and how the role you are applying for supports the wider business. I would also recommend preparing examples that show your communication skills, organisation, teamwork, problem-solving, and willingness to learn.
For apprenticeship or early careers roles, I think it is important to show enthusiasm and a positive attitude. You do not need to know everything straight away, but you should be open to learning, asking questions, and developing your skills.
I would also advise candidates to make the most of the recruitment process by asking questions and finding out whether the role and culture are right for them. Overall, my biggest tip would be to prepare well, be honest about your strengths, and show that you are motivated to grow with The AA.
