Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As a Project Coordinator at Softcat, I ensure the successful execution of various projects. These are usually services that are sold by account managers. Day to day activities include communicating with internal and external customers, maintaining project documentation, assessing risks, developing project plans and timelines and deciding how to allocate resources effectively.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy my program very much as it has given me the opportunity and time to learn and develop my skills that directly apply to my job role as well as being able to learn in a supportive and motivating environment such as Softcat. Becoming an apprentice at Softcat is something i would recommend to anyone looking to gain a qualification while gaining on the job experience

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed my ability to manage time. When balancing apprenticeship work with the various on going projects in the background, i quickly learnt how to prioritise certain tasks and how to allocate an appropriate amount of time to each task in order to complete it all efficiently and to the best of my ability.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
the programme is structured well, with 20% focused on apprenticeship assignments, meetings and online learning. The other 80% is working within your team in your specific job role. There are regular meetings and group sessions with the other apprentices as well as one to one meetings with you training provider.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My managers at Softcat are more than supportive when it comes to my apprenticeship work and my on the job role. I have regular one to ones with my line manager where we discuss if and how they can help me with my apprenticeship work or if i feel like i need more support with my role they are more than happy to help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My training provider is very suportive towards my qualifications. we have monthly meetings together where we are able to review the progress i am making as well as setting targets for things i would like to achieve in the near future. we also have quarterly meetings that include our line managers.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Many of us apprentices are completing the same qualification although our jobs are quite varied. The qualification gives us an introduction to the basic principles of working for a company and how businesses operate. I do think many apprentices including myself would benefit from a qualification that is more job specific.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
At softcat there are many different networks that are created by employees, these could be a particular interest or hobby or even a faith. They usually have their own Teams chat with their own organised events or meetings for everyone part of them. there are also company wide events such as Kick off.
